Two Special Symposia at Pittcon 2008

The Pittsburgh Conference announces the Society of Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) will host two special symposia added to the Pittcon 2008 Technical Program. One symposium will focus on atomic spectroscopy and the other on vibrational spectroscopy.

50 Years of SAS: Looking to the Future with Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium

The focus of this session will be the role of atomic spectroscopy to fulfill expectations and needs of the laboratory in the years to come. Leading researchers in the field have been invited to provide their insight into developments taking place in this field, the evolution of instrumentation, and the impact upon the analytical laboratory.

This symposium will consider basic and applied research in infrared and Raman spectrometry. Of particular note is that the session will include speakers from academia, industry, and government.

The Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh, one of the sponsoring societies of Pittcon, is the local Pittsburgh chapter of the SAS. Pittcon 2008 will be held March 1– 7, 2008, in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
