Associate Engineer - FPLC Expert (m/f)

as temporary maternity leave replacement from 1st Dec. 2018 till 31st March 2020.

Primary responsibilities:

  • FPLC purification of proteins
  • Planning and execution of (protein purification) process development, optimization and scale-up, with focus on FPLC
  • Development of GMP-conform production processes and facilitate the transfer from Technical Development at lab scale to GMP manufacturing
  • Support manufacturing during process and equipment implementation, as well as technical and practical troubleshooting
  • Communication with external suppliers
  • Authoring of process relevant documentation for GMP production (Forms, Master Batch Records, SOPs)
  • Support of our production team in performing cGMP manufacturing activities according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch records in accordance with assigned daily tasks and production schedule
  • Experience with Quality Systems (Deviations, CAPAs, Change Control, etc.) would be beneficial, but not mandatory
  • Identification, implementation, and qualification of new devices. Validation assistance in our production facility
  • Expertise in documentation and presentation of results, compilation of development reports
  • Training of (new) staff on processes and process relevant devices

Required qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and profound practical experience with AKTA systems and UNICORN software is required
  • Extensive experience with FPLC processes (column packing and chromatography (HIC, IEX, Affinity, CIP procedures)
  • Knowledge of protein purification demonstrated through purification of several types of proteins using a wide range of methods and affinity tags
  • 1-2 years of experience relevant to protein purification/process development is preferred
  • The successful candidate will have experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Networking and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures and deliver accurate documentation are essential
  • Dedicated team player
  • Ability to work in a fast developing environment, according to set priorities and timelines
  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility, and readiness/ability to learn new methods are critical

Educational requirements:

  • MTA / BTA / CTA (Technician) with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • BS or MS in Biological Sciences / Biological Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience (for BS) or at least 1 year of relevant experience (for MS)
